Much care and attention has been lavished on the renovation of this stunning chalet, which is just 100m from the La Clusaz ski slopes and 1.5km from the centre of La Clusaz, where you will find plenty of bars, shops and restaurants.
Outside the ski season, the village boasts a modern watersports centre providing activities for all ages and a wellbeing area. The nearby Lake Annecy is another great place for swimming, paddleboarding, and sailing.
The stylish interior has been designed so that even when 12 people are staying at Chalet Patagonia, everyone can find some privacy when they want it. Skilled local craftsmen were used to make much of the furniture, and the fittings are all of the highest quality. This attention to detail, combined with the chalet’s superb position close to the popular La Balme pistes, is sure to make your holiday very special.
About the property ...
Sleeping up to 12 people in five comfortable bedrooms with four bathrooms (one with a hammam), there's plenty of room for everyone to relax at Chalet Patagonia.
Four of the bedrooms are on the ground floor - two doubles, a twin room (which can be made into a double if you prefer), which are all en suite, and a room with two sets of bunk beds. One of the en suite bathrooms has a hammam too!
There is also a small kitchen on this floor, which is useful for preparing food to eat in the garden. This kitchen has a huge impressive stove with built-in seating - the perfect place to warm up when you come in from the snow!
The fifth bedrooms, a large en suite double, is on the floor above, where you will also find the lovely open plan living area and a large family kitchen. There's a large dining table where you can all eat together, and cosy chairs around an ethanol fireplace. Why not grab a bottle of wine from the wine cellar (payable at the end of your stay) to enjoy on the sunny balcony?
The furnished terrace is the perfect place to catch some sun, enjoy a barbecue or perhaps relax in the Nordic hot tub after an active day in the mountains.

La Clusaz is an authentic mountain village which blends tradition with up-to-date facilities. Its traditional chalets and lively streets offer a vibrant setting with Savoyard charm. Nestled in the heart of the Aravis massif, it is only 30 min from Annecy and close to Le Grand-Bornand and Manigod. Its warm atmosphere and easy accessibility make it a popular destination year-round.
In winter, the resort provides easy access to the Aravis ski area, offering 210km of pistes that combine long descents and technical sectors across La Clusaz, Le Grand-Bornand, Manigod, and Saint-Jean-de-Sixt. The region also offers a variety of winter activities, including cross-country skiing, dog sledding, sledging, snow biking, ice diving and ice skating.
During the rest of the year, numerous hiking and biking trails lead to superb views over the Aravis, such as the Plateau des Glières. I was lucky enough, throughout my childhood, to go skiing every year with my parents, surrounded by friends and their children. Each time, I came back amazed by these weeks spent on the snowy slopes, and I keep a magnificent memory, after a good day of skiing, of these snacks made of big sandwiches and hot chocolate, of these long evenings of card games and laughter by the fire, then, later, of these long discussions to remake the world with friends.
I used to come regularly to La Clusaz.
Later, for about fifteen years, as paragliding enthusiasts, we came back to the region again and again with Pierre, my husband: flying together over Lake Annecy, La Tournette, the Aravis, the summit of Lachat in Grand Bornand, was a constantly renewed wonder that we couldn't do without for one weekend.
We would end the hot summer days, after magnificent flights, by Lake Annecy, bathing in its turquoise waters surrounded by mountains. In 2008, we started looking for a chalet in La Clusaz and were lucky enough to be able to buy the Patagonia chalet, an old farmhouse dating from the end of the 19th century.
At the time, it was a farmhouse that was a bit atypical for the region, low in height and in poor condition. In love with the region and its still rural and agricultural character, in spite of its development, we took it to heart to renovate this building only with noble materials, with the help of Compagnons carpenters and cabinet makers: old wood, stone, and we went to look for these materials sometimes very far: the old wooden beams of the frame come from old Swiss halls, the stone on the floor is made of old alfalfa stone from Italy.
Finally, the fayence stove is of Austrian origin. Wishing to rediscover the warm, reassuring and cosy atmosphere of our childhood winters, we furnished the chalet with large leather armchairs, chose thick woollen fabrics for the curtains and placed numerous fur cushions.
The chalet is designed to accommodate 12 people, including a maximum of 8 adults, while preserving the privacy of each person: 3 bedrooms are arranged as suites, with their own private bathroom and toilet, two bedrooms, including the children's dormitory, share a bathroom with a double stone washbasin and a shower-hammam. The small kitchen on the ground floor allows you to have a snack after skiing, leaning against the fayence stove which diffuses a gentle heat, and to have the children eat separately from the parents, or to prepare a meal to eat outside on the south-facing terrace.
On the first floor, the living-dining room is large, allowing you to gather for a convivial aperitif with friends around the central fireplace. The large, well-equipped kitchen, with its two ovens and two dishwashers, is ideal for preparing large, festive meals.
Each time we arrive at the chalet, we feel like we are in a big, soft cocoon, isolated from the outside world and its stresses.
We would like to share these strong feelings with you during your stay, and hope that you will appreciate the quality of this renovation, which I think can be described as quite exceptional.. We wish you a very pleasant stay with us.
